MUSEUM KROSNIEWICE
Revitalizing heritage: A modern transformation of the apothecary museum entrance
The museum’s exhibits, originally belonging to a renowned apothecary, serve as the foundation for the design narrative, with medicine bottles inspiring the dark glass structure that envelops the counter. This choice of material, a wavy brown polycarbonate, mirrors the rich, amber-toned glass seen in historic pharmacy bottles—a nod to the museum’s heritage collection and a central element of its aesthetic.
The project scope included the thoughtful reconstruction and redesign of the museum’s entrance, transforming it into a modern and inviting entryway that enhances the visitor experience.
Inside, the wave pattern is amplified, forming a motif that flows across interior walls. These textured walls are crafted from bent drywall mounted on a sturdy metal frame, shaped into alternating concave and convex semicircles, resulting in a rhythmic wave effect. The finishing touch is a layer of decorative plaster resembling waxed concrete, adding a tactile, polished surface that balances the industrial feel with a sense of refinement. This interior approach harmonizes texture, material, and history, bringing the apothecary’s legacy into a contemporary museum setting.
